Our Story

The essence of Santa Teresa is embodied in Adrian Nunez, owner of Ollie’s adventures. His great grandfather settled in the area, falling in love with the rich, natural beauty of this magnificent piece of the planet. Adrian was born in Mal Pais (Santa Teresa) and shares this love for his beautiful homeland. He grew up in a big but very humble family. They lived simply, raised their own animals, fished and grew their own food, all without electricity or running water.
Adrian has an absolute love and appreciation for animals, especially horses. His horses enjoy an abundance of love, respect and freedom. Ollie’s Adventures is environmentally conscious and does a great deal to keep Santa Teresa the pristine and beautiful paradise it is. Adrian has extensive knowledge of the area and is able to answer just about any question you may have for him. He has been working within the tourism industry since the age of 14 and with all the knowledge gained, he started up his own business: Ollie's Adventures, named after his son. Adrian is extremely honest and reliable and does his absolute best to ensure that his guests get the most out of their stay in his hometown and receive the maximum enjoyment from his services. He has created a business that is authentic and deeply rooted in the Costa Rican culture, while at the same time, keeping to the highest European/First World standards. Adrian puts customer service/satisfaction as his priority. In this 100% Costa Rican owned and operated business every interaction is personal and authentic. Adrian and his staff are flexible and willing to adjust their services to best suit the needs of their customers. "Everywhere I go, I try to get a motorcycle to rent to see a bit of the country side. If you've been to Santa Teresa (or are going) you'll quickly realize the roads are probably about as bad as they get. So I was looking for an offroad bike, and acutally stopped in an a different ATV place about 100 M north of Oliie's. The proprietor walked me over and introduced me to Ollie. He had just picked up a brand new Honda CRF250F, and it was literally brand new. We negotiated a very fair price, and away I went. Return was seamless too. "I really recommend this place, good service, funny owner and tour guide. I always go back to get my bicycle rented from here, keep in mind that in some places here you need to leave deposit money that can be over $200 for one bicycle, but not from here. Boys always fix and clean everything ready for you and give a great advice and help remember to ask for a lock. "On my first day in Santa Teresa I priced out board rentals all over town and Ollie's won hands down, better than 3 other shops. Plus you're allowed to exchange the board if the surf conditions change. When I went in for the first time, Adrian, the owner and manager helped pick out the best board for me based on what I told him about my surfing experience, wave preferences, and the current surf conditions. He is also an outstanding surf instructor - he built waves in the sand to show me what to look for; showed me two different pop-up techniques; explained everything in terms of energy efficiency - as a science teacher, I totally appreciate this perspective. The surf was relatively big that day, and as determined as I was, he was very perceptive and could tell when I was getting tired. During breaks he would give me tips and advice based on what he was seeing in the water. I learned so much! The board rental options are great, the surf lessons are the best ever, the bikes are well-maintained and affordable (I rented a bike for one day), and Adrian can answer almost any question you have about Santa Teresa or Malpais. Adrian and his crew have an incredible wealth of knowledge about all aspects of the Nicoya Peninsula, and they are all super cool people! You will be so pleased!!" “Today my brother and I enjoyed the most extraordinary horseback riding tour that was full of wonderfull surprises. Adrian, the owner guided us into the mountains of Mais Pais (a wonderful town next to Santa Teresa) and then down to the untouched rocks and beaches. Surprises:the comfort I had as a a novice on a horse, the breathtaking views and the bits of history I learned. My quad rental from Ollie's has been smooth due to the time they took to train me about safety, as Santa Teresa has some crazy roads!!!
